Discover La Dolce Vita in the Dolomites

The mountains of the Italian Alps are about to step into the spotlight. The next Winter Games, Milano Cortina 2026, will show off the stunning Dolomite range in northern Italy as skiers race down icy slopes and sliders zip down frozen chutes at breakneck speeds.

Italophiles already know the magic of this region, where jagged peaks turn pink in the setting sun and locals settle onto their favourite patios with a glass of red Lagrein or sparkling Franciacorta to watch the Dolomite alpenglow.

And there’s so much to see in the region. Head into the national parks for outdoor adventure. Breathe in fresh mountain air while hiking or climbing, while road cycling or the rush of alpine mountain biking.

I can help you decide if you want to explore a single valley or hop through a few, such as Val Badia, Val Gardena or Val di Fassa. It’s best to arrive in winter or summer – travel at other times can be bedevilled by seasonal closures. The region of Cortina d’Ampezzo is about a five-hour drive from Milan, and travellers heading to the mountains can also fly into Venice (only a two-hour drive from Cortina).

Aman Rosa Alpina | Lake Carezza, Dolomites

For an authentic slice of local life, book a mountain chalet with views that go on for days. Or consider rooms at the legendary Rosa Alpina in San Cassiano, recently reopened and revamped as an Aman hotel. Skiers will find an abundance of expert and easier pistes, and can test their mettle on the bucket-list Stellaronda circuit.

Spanning 25 miles (40 kilometres), this scenic route winds through the Gruppo di Sella mountains, connecting four peaks and the valleys of Val Gardena, Val Badia, Arabba, and Val di Fassa. Linked by cable cars and chairlifts, the full circuit can be completed in a single day. Whatever your adventure, whatever your season, end the day with a hearty bowl of venison stew; it’s a Tirolean staple.

Love the ocean? Glenapp Castle, located in southwest Scotland, a 90-minute drive south of Glasgow, offers a multi-day sea safari through the remote islands and firths of the southwest Hebrides. Slender Loris & Sigiriya

Slender Loris | Sigiriya

In Sri Lanka, seek out the adorable slender loris on your safari visit. Jeep rides through Minneriya, Udawalawe or Yala National Park will bring you close to herds of elephants and a leap (or a pack) of leopards, but you'll need to head out at night to catch a glimpse of the nocturnal, tree-dwelling loris. The wildlife rewards in this oft-forgotten safari destination are unbeatable.

Don’t miss the cultural side of your safari. Visit Sri Lanka’s ancient temples and set aside time for Sigiriya, a third-century UNESCO World Heritage site just three hours from Colombo. The climb to the top of this carved granite citadel is unforgettable.

Ted Turner Reserve

Ted Turner Reserve

Travellers who prefer to stay in North America can book Ted Turner Reserves, three massive, privately held properties in northern and southern New Mexico. Each reserve offers luxury or boutique lodging options, as well as numerous opportunities to spot wildlife, including bison, black bears, desert bighorn sheep, and mountain lions. Visits here have been described as staying at an elite guest ranch in the middle of a private national park.

There’s a whole world of safaris out there, and I’ll help you find yours.

What’s It Like to Work With a Travel Advisor?

Every great trip starts with a conversation. I begin by learning about you: your travel style, preferences, and the experiences you're hoping to have. This helps me design a trip that reflects your personality and makes the most of your time away.

Then I do the legwork — researching the best options, checking availability, and reaching out to my trusted partners to secure preferred rates, perks, and exclusive experiences. Once I’ve mapped out the itinerary, I review every detail with you, from hotel confirmations to dinner reservations and transportation, ensuring everything is organised, double-checked, and tailored to your needs.

And my work doesn’t stop when you depart. If anything unexpected comes up during your trip, I’m your point of contact. I help with delays, last-minute changes, and anything else that might come your way, so you can focus on enjoying your time.

The process is personal, collaborative, and designed to make travel feel easy from start to finish.

Curious what your travel planning process could look like? Let’s connect.
