Fabulous Fiji and Awesome Australia

The allure of the South Pacific is strong—warm waters, tropical breezes, and soft sandy beaches that take your breath away. The distance North Americans must travel to reach this slice of paradise makes it ideal for island hopping. May I suggest pairing Australia for adventure and Fiji for relaxation?

Paris Opera House

Sydney Harbour | Sydney Royal Botanic Gardens | Bondi Icebergs Pool

In Australia, recover from that long-haul flight in Sydney. Spend a day or two exploring the renowned harborfront – take a ferry from Circular Quay to admire the skyline: the famous Opera House and the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge (and for a real thrill, join a tour that climbs over its iron arches). This is Australia's biggest city with over 5 million people; you'll find fine hotels, grand museums, botanical gardens, spectacular dining and coffee shops with the best flat whites around.

Next stop? Australia's "red centre." Take a three-hour flight into Alice Springs, in the Northern Territory. This small city is a gateway to the Outback and the red rock monolith of Uluru. Watching the sun rise over this cultural landmark has drawn visitors since time immemorial is a must. Tour the rock by camel or on foot and watch for kangaroos. Many hotels offer an evening outdoor dining experience which is not to be missed – sip Australian Shiraz and see if you can find the Southern Cross sparkling above.

Fiji is only a four-hour flight from Sydney, and this tropical island country (made up of 332 islands in the archipelago) is unforgettable because of its culture and beaches. This is also where you'll want to splash out on any overwater bungalow fantasies. Landing in the capital of Suva puts visitors on the larger main island of Viti Levu.

Head further to resorts on smaller atolls in the Yasawa and Mamanuca island groups for miles of unspoiled white sandy beaches. Here, resorts often offer day trips to the uninhabited islet of Monuriki, where the Tom Hanks movie Cast Away was filmed. Locals may welcome you with a cup of kava, the national drink of Fiji. Attending a kava ceremony is an essential part of learning the country's culture.

Two incredible destinations, one unforgettable journey.

Ready to Get Festive? Holiday Planning Begins Now

It’s never too early to start planning your holiday escape—especially if your family wants a special way to celebrate. How about lighting the menorah in a private villa overlooking the ocean? Or unwrapping gifts in a snowy cabin, far from the holiday rush? A private chef can handle all the festive cooking while you relax and enjoy time with loved ones. I can turn these holiday dreams into reality—as long as there’s enough time to find the perfect destination at the best value.

Scotland Hogmanay | The Fife Arms, Scotland

Scotland Hogmanay | The Fife Arms, Scotland

Scotland’s New Year’s Eve celebration, Hogmanay, is unlike any other. For many, ringing in the new year is even more significant than Christmas, with weeklong festivities and lively outdoor events on December 31. It’s an unforgettable experience, but accommodations fill up quickly—booking early ensures you don’t miss out.

For those craving sunshine and celebration, the Caribbean and the Maldives bring the holiday magic. Trade snow for soft white sand, swap sweaters for swimsuits, and toast the season from a beachfront villa in Jamaica or an overwater bungalow in the Maldives. These dreamy getaways disappear fast for the festive season—booking now means you’ll be sipping cocktails by the ocean instead of scrambling for last-minute plans.

Whether you want to watch the sun come up on a new year in the Caribbean or the Maldives; dance till midnight in Venice or London; or gather the family round to shout “Buon anno!” in a Tuscan villa or "Bonne année” in a French chalet – I'm your ticket to a perfect festive getaway.

The Evolution of Shoulder Season

If you’ve travelled to Europe during “shoulder season” (just before or after summer), you’ve likely noticed—it's no longer a secret. So, what’s next for the savvy traveller?

Now more than ever, timing is everything. I help my clients find the best moments to explore top destinations. Consider travelling in new seasons—winter in Europe is trending—or choosing lesser-known spots during peak months. Instead of the Greek islands, why not discover the charms of mainland Greece, all its incredible cultural areas and (yes) wonderful beaches along the coast?

Another strategy? Flip the seasons. Autumn in Patagonia (March–April) is a wonderland of fall colour with fewer people. Visiting Argentina during the North American winter means enjoying Mendoza's wine country and tango in Buenos Aires. Swapping summer for ski adventures in June or July offers a fresh take on seasonal travel.

I have plenty of creative ways to make the calendar work in your favour.
